Description: I folded the Washi paper 26 times to make Japanese kite shape, which symbolizes “hope”. In order to create volume, I put the foam behind the paper and then glued it to the pendant frame I made at the production studio. Once the glue dried, I applied a polymer sealant followed by non-toxic acid-free varnish five times to make it firm, shiny and water resistant. Each varnish application required one full day to dry completely.
Note: I recently purchased the new Yuzen paper, and made them.
